Volunteering

We have a fantastic team of caring and like-minded people without whom the ACE Activities programme wouldn’t be the same, so a huge thank you goes out to all of them. We showcase some of these volunteers and how they help us below.

Richard Ford

“After 52 years working at the same company, volunteering was quite a daunting prospect… Now nine happy years on, two days a week I’m a mini-bus driver taking adults with varying degrees of special needs to their various projects across the district. I have made many new friends, making my life richer and all as a result of volunteering.”

Give it a try, it will make your spare time fulfilling.

“I have been volunteering with the Upcycling group for seven years now and enjoy every minute. I get great satisfaction from helping the students use a variety of materials and tools to create a project from start to finish. The look on their faces when they see what they have achieved is wonderful, it gives them a confidence in themselves and their ability, especially when we go to sell the products to the public.”

Tim Copeman

“I find it a really positive and rewarding experience.

Gardening volunteer

Do you know about growing fruit and vegetables?

We have a great group of friends growing most of the produce in raised beds, but they could do with more help and advice. Can you spare a few hours a week to help out in Chigwell?

Upcycling volunteer

Do you have woodworking skills, patience and a sense of humour?

Our Upcycling Group needs helpers who can guide our students in designing and building a wide variety oy wood products. We’d love to have more help at our workshop at Passingford Bridge.
